Justice M. Sundar Appointed as New Chief Justice of Manipur High Court

Recently, Justice M. Sundar was appointed as the New Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court on 11 September 2025. The central government of India has appointed Sunder as the New Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court in Assam. He took the office charge as the Chief Justice of Manipur on 14th September 2025.

After the retirement of Justice Kempaiah Somashekar from the High Court of Manipur. Sunder is the most senior judge in the Madras High Court. With this, he will join a long line of judges from the Madras High Court who have gone on to lead the Manipur High Court, including Justices Ramalingam Sudhakar, MV Muralidharan, and D Krishna Kumar.

About the Sunder

M. Sunder was born in Chennai on July 19, 1966. He graduated from the Madras Law College, which is the most popular law college in Chennai. He was part of the institution’s first five-year integrated law course.

He got the Law degree in 1989 and spent many years in the may courts and kachehari. In October 2016, he was elevated as a permanent judge of the Madras High Court. Over the years, Justice Sundar has authored several significant judgments.
